IDMind starts its activity in project FROG (Fun Robotic Outdoor Guide). FROG is a European Collaborative project funded through the Seventh Framework Program, with the following participants: IDMind (Portugal, SME), YDreams (Portugal, SME), Universiteit van Amsterdam (Netherlands), Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Spain) and Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (United Kingdom)
The new set of robots developed by IdMind were integrated in a joint interactive project with the YDreams company, for the Visitor´s Center of the “Ciudad Grupo Santander”, near Madrid, Spain. As a result of a consolidated know-how in mobile robotics, IdMind developed an innovative and worldwide unique solution.

IdMind joins the Instituto Superior Técnico community of SPIN-OFFs. An initiative that aims to promote a more active relationship between companies whose origins are linked to IST, and a closer connection of these companies to IST.
Inauguration of an innovative project created and developed entirely by IdMind for the “Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve”, called the “Jardim da Cigarra” (Garden of Cicada). An outdoor area, where interactive technological elements are mixed with native vegetation. Worth to notice is that all the energy power used comes from renewable sources: the sun, wind, and the visitors themselves.
IdMind's 3DSunTracker® won one of the five "Highly Commended" nominations of Premier Farnell's 2007 Live EDGE Electronic Design for the Global Environment challenge. About 3500 designs from 102 countries applied to this challenge and the panel of judges has distinguished the 3DSunTracker® for its effectiveness on solar energy production, easy installation and configuration.
The 3DSunTracker® system guarantees the perfect tracking of the sun by a solar panel system, with a maximum error of +/-1 degree. This tracker has been applied to an installation with concentration reflectors which has been producing up to 60% more power and 117% more energy than traditional fixed point panel system in the same conditions.
Meanwhile IdMind has celebrated a partnership with WS-Energia Lda which will integrate the 3DSunTracker® controller into their new DoubleSun® PV solar concentrators.
IdMind participated in C-ELROB 2007, an european competition of Search & Rescue robots in Switzerland, with the Raposa robot, in a joint team with Institute for Systems and Robotics (Instituto Superior Técnico), having achieved the 6th place (in 12) in the Urban trial.
The Robotarium X, the first Robotarium in the world, will open in June 11th, in the Jardim Central, in Alverca (Portugal). The IdMind built all robots that "inhabit" this art and science installation, including all electronics and programming.
The Portuguese team IdMind - ISR/IST has participated at the ELROB 2006 - 1st European Land-Robot Trial 2006 in Hammelburg - Germany with the Raposa robot. It was the only Iberian team to participate, and the innovative docking mechanism plus the friendly user interface made quite an impression to all the participants, namely the German Military. The Elrob organization has kindly made available some photos.
IdMind builds a painting robot for the New York' American Museum of Natural History. The construction of this robot follows an invitation made by the American Museum of Natural History to the Portuguese artist Leonel Moura for the construction of a painter robot that will live on the brand new "Humanity Room" of this museum, to be opened until the end of the year.
The Raposa project was selected as a finalist of the Euron Tech Trasnfer Award. The consortium project Raposa, developed by IdMind in close collaboration with Instituto Superior Técnico, was selected as a finalist for the annual Euron prize for projects involving technology transfers from the scientific/academic environment to the industry - "Euron Tech Transfer Award".
